A day after losing to Central Oklahoma by one point, the Lindenwood wrestling team dominated Newman by a final score of 33-7 on Wednesday night. This was the Lions' first MIAA win of the season.
Only losing two matches, the Lions pinned one Jet and had two forfeits. At 197 pounds,
Dillon Archer took down his opponent at the 3:08 mark to give the Lions six points. The rest of the Lions' wins were decision-victories, including
Colton Orlando picking up his eighth win of the season. Orlando and
Greg Jacquez have been providing the Lions versatility with each rotating match-by-match at 149 pounds.
Hunter Haralson won his 14th match of the season at 133 pounds while
Kyle Jolas won his team-leading 19th contest.
Batchka Zulkhuu registered his 18th win, and
Jared Mestas posted a victory at 141 pounds.
Terrel Wilbourn and Jacob Borgmeyer received well-earned rest after Newman forfeited at 157 and 285 pounds.
Kyle Summers nearly pulled out a win at 184 pounds, but fell one point short.
The Lions improve to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the MIAA. They will host another conference rival in Central Missouri at Hyland Arena on Wednesday, January 20.
