Lindenwood linebacker
Connor Harris added another chapter to his illustrious career on Saturday afternoon in Hays, Kan. With his second tackle of the game, Harris became the NCAA's All-Division career tackles leader.
Â
Harris has been creating havoc for opposing offenses since his freshman year. He started as a true freshman and recorded 126 tackles that year, the most in the MIAA. Harris missed most of the 2013 season with an injury and received a medical redshirt. He came back even stronger though, making 152 stops in 2014. Harris was a first-team all-MIAA selection and a second-team All-American.
Â
Harris had another breakthrough in 2015 when he set an NCAA Division II single-season record with 184 tackles. He was named a first-team All-American and an MIAA co-Defensive Player of the Year.
Â
His performance throughout his career has helped him rewrite football record books. Harris set the MIAA career tackles record in the final game of the 2015 season. He set the NCAA Division II career tackles record earlier this year against Northeastern State. And he reached the final record this afternoon against Fort Hays State when he broke the NCAA All-Division record of 550.
Â
Harris, who has been generating interest from NFL scouts all season, is not just a defensive star for the Lions. The three-time captain is also one of the team's punters this season, and he has been an offensive star in the past, averaging 6.8 yards per carry.
Â
Harris came to Lindenwood after being the 2011 Missouri 6A Defensive Player of the Year for Blue Springs South High School. He was an all-state performer on both defense and kicking.
Harris has six games remaining in his collegiate career, and he will go down as one of the best players in Lions history.
