The Lindenwood women's volleyball team played a great match against Fort Hays State on Thursday night in Hyland Arena, but fell 3-2 after nearly completing a fifth-set comeback.

The Lady Lions opened the night with a 25-19 win in set one with the help of four kills and one block by
Jessica Krygsheld.Â
Alex Dahlstrom posted three kills and one block.Â
Megan Hellwege and
Allyson Clancy each tallied five digs as Clancy dished out seven assists. Lindenwood hit just .146 in the opening set, but held the opposition to a .048 hitting percentage.

Dahlstrom registered four kills and two blocks in the second set, but the .250 hitting percentage of the Tigers helped Fort Hays to a 25-15 win. After the break, Krygsheld put up five kills and one block while hitting .556 to help the Lady Lions to a two-point victory. Clancy handed out 13 assists and Dahlstrom hammered down four kills with one block.

Lindenwood struggled in the fourth set and fell 25-16 after the Tigers hit .306 and the Lady Lions registered just a .054 hitting percentage. The Lady Lions put together a long and successful rally late in set five which led to a 12-12 game. Fort Hays State immediately halted the momentum and defeated Lindenwood 16-14 to win the match 3-2.

Lindenwood falls to 8-12 on the season and 4-6 in the MIAA. The Lady Lions will host No. 4 Nebraska-Kearney on Friday at 7 p.m. in Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo.
