Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Greenstein Makes 11 Saves, But Lady Lions Fall To No. 4 Central Missouri

The Lindenwood women's soccer team stayed with No. 4 Central Missouri for nearly 66 minutes before the Jennies scored two goals in nine minutes to win 2-0 on Friday night in Warrensburg, Mo.

Each team have its fair amount of opportunities in the first half, each having nine shots. UCM held the edge with shots on goal at a 6-5 mark, and dominated in corner kick chances at 6-2. Lauren Greenstein made six saves in the half, while Becky Roberts put three shots on goal for Lindenwood. Kat Roe was able to get two shots off in the final few minutes of the half, but both sailed high as Lindenwood possessed the last chance to take the lead of the first 45 minutes.

The second half proved to be much different than its former period. After a few chances, including corner kick opportunities, Jada Scott scored her 10th goal of the season to give the home team a 1-0 lead after 66 minutes of play. The Jennies kept the pressure on, tallying another goal just inside the 75th minute to double lead. After the couple goals by UCM, Alexis Robbers had her chance to put the Lady Lions on the board with less than three minutes remaining, but MIAA Goalkeeper of the Year-favorite Ana Dilkes made her seventh save of the night and cap off another shutout by the number four team in the country.

For the entire second half, the Jennies out-shot Lindenwood, 14-3, and 5-0 in corner kicks. Overall for the match, Roberts stayed at three shots on goal, while each of Robbers, Roe, Jackie Lindner, and Tayler Heinemeier had one make its way to Dilkes. The freshman keeper Greenstein made 11 saves on the night to mark a season high.

The loss drops Lindenwood to 8-7-1 on the season, and an even 5-5 in conference play with only its second loss of the season by more than one goal. Greenstein collects her first loss of the season as her record moves to 7-1-1 in net for the Lady Lions. Despite the loss, Lindenwood has clinched a spot in the MIAA tournament that begins next Wednesday, and currently sits in eighth place as Washburn holds the edge in the tie-breaker.

The Lady Lions will host Northwest Missouri on Sunday from Hunter Stadium for Senior Day. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
