The Lindenwood men's basketball team used a balanced scoring effort and strong defense to defeat Douglas on Monday by an 88-51 score in New Westminster, British Columbia.

The Lions jumped out to a big lead in the first half after holding Douglas to just 22.9 percent shooting from the field, including just two-of-12 from three-point range. Early in the game, the Royals made just one field goal in a five-minute span, which helped Lindenwood open up a 15-5 lead. Later in the period, the Lions didn't allow a field goal for over six minutes, and they went on a 13-0 run which helped them lead 42-19 at halftime.

In the second half, Lindenwood continued to add to its lead, outscoring the Royals 30-11 for the first ten minutes of the period. Douglas was finally able to get its offense going in the final quarter of the game, but it was too late by that point.

For the game, Lindenwood's defense held Douglas to 27.9 percent shooting from the field and 22.6 percent from three-point range. The Lions only committed ten fouls and put the Royals on the free-throw line just 11 times. Lindenwood also won the rebounding battle by 17 boards.

Offensively, Lindenwood shot just under 50 percent for the game, and made 13-of-30 three-pointers. The Lions also got to the free-throw line for 18 more attempts and 13 more made shots.

The men's basketball team recently added a pair of quarterbacks from the Lions football team, and both contributed to the victory.
Mason Bendigo had a team-high 17 points, and made four three-pointers. May Meylor was second on the team with 15 points, and just missed a double-double by one rebound. That pair helped the Lions scored 52 points off the bench, 26 more than the Royals.

Landon Mills started for the second straight game and had 13 points, including a perfect three-of-three from three-point range. All ten Lions who appeared in the contest got in the scoring column, and eight of those players had six points or more.

Dominique Dobbs led the team with 10 rebounds, and
Adam Pohlman had four assists.
Chandler Diekvoss had the team's only block and led the squad with two steals.

Lindenwood improves to 4-2 on the season. The Lions end their trip north of the border on Tuesday with a 4:30 p.m. (6:30 p.m. central ) contest against Langara.
