Men’s Ice Hockey Swept by Davenport

Men's ice hockey was swept by Davenport with a 5-1 loss Sunday afternoon at the Patterson Ice Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The Panthers built a 3-0 lead before the Lions were able to get on the board, scoring two in the first and a shorthanded goal at the 13:26 mark of the second.  The Lions did manage to score on that power play when Alexander Carlsson and Austin Wilk set up Aapo Nurminen with 6:10 remaining.  Davenport added two more in the third period for the final margin.

Lindenwood had plenty of chances with six power play opportunities, but could only score on the one in the second.  The Lions did keep the puck out of the net on five man-advantages chances for the Panthers, who outshot Lindenwood 30-21 in the game.  Michael Hails stopped 25 of those 30 shots in goal for the Lions, who dropped to 9-10-1 on the year.

Men's ice hockey will take the Thanksgiving weekend off before wrapping up the fall campaign with a two game set on the road in the Central States Collegiate Hockey League (CSCHL) against Ohio University December 2-3.  The Lions enter the series with a 2-2-0 mark in the CSCHL.  The opening faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. both Friday and Saturday night at the Bird Ice Arena in Athens, Ohio.
