The Lindenwood women's hockey team fell to the Ohio State Buckeyes by a score of 3-0 on Saturday afternoon from the OSU Ice Rink in Columbus, Ohio. The game was the final matchup of a two-game non-conference series between the teams.
Ohio State seized control of the game in the first period, scoring twice, including one power-play score. The Buckeyes' Lauren Boyle accounted for both goals, building a 2-0 lead for Ohio State after 20 minutes of play. Each team sent nine shots on goal in the opening period.
The two teams skated even during the middle frame, as Ohio State maintained its two-goal lead. The Lady Lions fired five shots on net during the period, while the Buckeyes registered six shots on goal.
Despite recording 11 shots on goal in the final period, Lindenwood was unable to get anything past the Ohio State goaltender. Boyle netted an empty net score for the Buckeye's with six seconds remaining in the game, sending Ohio State ahead by the eventual final of 3-0.
Morgan Skinner and
Jolene deBruyn split time in goal for the Lady Lions. Skinner received the start in net, playing 18:55 before being relieved by deBruyn. deBruyn made 16 saves, while Skinner turned in seven.
Cierra Paisley tallied a team-leading four shots on goal. Pasiley also won a team-high seven faceoffs.
Ohio State held the edge in shots for the game, 26-25.
Following the loss, Lindenwood moves to 0-8-0 on the season. With the non-conference victory, Ohio State improves its record to 5-6-1. The Lady Lions will return to action on Nov. 11-12 in State College, Pa. for a two-game CHA series with the Penn State Nittany Lions.
