The Lindenwood women's basketball team lost 73-49 to Washburn on Saturday evening in Topeka, Kan.

The Lady Lions shot under 30 percent from the field and just 60 percent from the free-throw line, but improve their three-point shooting to 33 percent. Washburn outrebounded Lindenwood 44-36 and dished out 14 assists while Lindenwood had just five helpers.Â
Gabby Walker led the team with 15 points on 6-of-15 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds.Â
Kallie Bildner went scoreless on seven field goal attempts, but grabbed eight rebounds and made both of her free-throw attempts.

Lindsay Medlen opened the game with a three-pointer to put Lindenwood up 3-0 within the first minutes. Washburn scored four quick points in response, but after back-to-back free-throws by Bildner,
Charisse Williams hit another three-pointer for the Lady Lions to take an 8-4 lead.Â
Beth Maenpaa and
Jerricah Butler added points in the paint to give Lindenwood its largest lead of the game at 12-4. The Ichabods battled back to take a 15-14 lead at the end of the first quarter with the help of 10 points in the paint and nine bench points.

The Lady Lions did not score until the 7:13 mark of the second quarter after two free-throws by Walker put the Lady Lions down 22-16. Walker was the only player on the roster to generate points for the first eight minutes of the second frame. Medlen and
Sara Ross combined for the final four points for the Lady Lions as Washburn held a 31-24 lead at halftime. Lindenwood shot less than 27 percent in the first half, but stayed in the game with an even 20-20 rebounding margin against the Ichabods.

Washburn continued to hold a comfortable lead for the first four minutes, but opened the game wide open with the long range shot. The Ichabods jumped out to a double-digit lead with a three-pointer, and put the foot on the gas to a 19-point lead at the end of the quarter. Lindenwood grabbed just six rebounds, made two field goals, and turned the ball over six times in the third quarter alone.

The Lady Lions were in too deep in the fourth quarter and could not put together a run of points. Walker compiled nine of her 15 points in the fourth quarter and grabbed four rebounds in the final frame. Ross ended her night with 10 points and six rebounds while compiling two steals.

Lindenwood falls to 5-4 on the year and 1-2 in the MIAA while Washburn moves to 8-3 on the season and 2-1 in conference play. The Lady Lions will travel to Emporia, Kan. on Monday to take on No. 5 Emporia State at 5:30 p.m.
