The Lindenwood gymnastics team fell to MIC rival Illinois Chicago on Monday night in Chicago. The Flames outscored the Lady Lions by nearly two points in the final rotation for a come-from-behind 192.225-191.950 victory.

The Lady Lions led for most of the night and had a 1.55 lead after three rotations. Lindenwood struggled on the beam though, with no one scoring over a 9.55, and Illinois Chicago took advantage. The two teams traded the lead three times over the final three gymnasts, and the Flames emerged with the narrow win.

Lindenwood's
Kayla McMullan had the top meet of her career, winning both the vault and floor titles. She had career-best scores in both event, scoring a 9.825 on the vault and a 9.800 on the floor.

The floor was the team's top event on the day, with Lindenwood scoring a 48.625. Besides McMullan's score,
Katey Oswalt and
Rachel Zabawa each had a 9.750. Zabawa also had the second-highest score on the vault with a 9.775, and
Samantha Borges and
Aubree Horn scored a 9.700.

On the bars,
Courtney Heise led the team with a 9.775, which was second overall.
Aubree Horn was close behind her with a 9.750.
Lauren Cartmell led the Lady Lions with a 9.550 on the beam.

Lindenwood returns home next weekend, taking on nationally-ranked Illinois on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Hyland Arena.
