Corazalla Makes School History as Lions Edge Out Alderson Broaddus

The No. 18-ranked Lindenwood men's lacrosse picked up its fourth victory of the season on Saturday afternoon against Alderson Broaddus. The Lions survived a late fourth quarter scare as the Battlers scored four goals to cut the lead down to one.

In the first quarter, neither team scored until the Battlers jumped on the board at the 7:28 mark. Kevin Eskridge guided the Lions when he took a pass from Josh Coons and tied the game up heading into the second quarter.

The Lions registered four goals to the Battlers' one including a man-up play when Sean Darroch scored off an assist from Connor Eskridge to give the Lions a 3-1 lead. C. Eskridge scored once and K. Eskridge collected two more goals including one with 24 seconds before halftime. The Lions entered the locker rooms with a 5-2 lead.

David Corazalla made school history after scoring a record 56th career goal in the third quarter. He drove down the middle defense after Sam Heaton passed to him and found the top-right of net to give the Lions a six-goal lead. K. Eskridge scored his fourth goal of the day while Kyle Lee launched a shot from seven yards out for his second goal of the season. The Lions allowed one goal which cut the lead by an 8-3 margin heading into the final quarter.

The Lions held off a late-surge from the Battlers without having to score a goal for the entire quarter. The Lions went on to win 8-7 for their second ECAC victory of the season.

After scoring four goals on the day, K. Eskridge increased his season total to 15 and career total to 48. He along with Coons are looking to become the fifth and sixth Lions in school history to score 50 times in a career. C. Eskridge's assist gave him a team-high 10 for the season. Darroch's 12th goal increased his point total to 21 which leads the team.

The Lions forced 17 of the Battlers' 30 turnovers and converted a perfect 18 for 18 clear attempts. They also lured in 44 groundballs to the Battlers' 30. Tyler Schermann dominated on face-offs, winning 13 of 18 attempts while picking up a team-high 10 groundballs. K. Eskridge found seven groundballs to add to his big game.

After the victory, the Lions improve to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the ECAC. They will return to Hunter Stadium on Saturday, March 19 to take on Wheeling Jesuit for another ECAC showdown. The first face-off is scheduled at 1 pm.
