The Lindenwood softball team dropped both games of the doubleheader to Central Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon in Edmond, Okla. Both games only last five innings, as game one ended in a 8-0 defeat while game two saw the Lady Lions lose 15-2.
Game OneThe Bronchos put four runs on the scoreboard right away in the first inning on three hits, including two doubles. After surrendering two more runs,
Brooke Miller came in relief in the third. The Lady Lions scattered a couple hits, but two more runs in the third to make the score 8-0 held as Lindenwood went down in order the last couple innings to lose in five innings.
Caitlyn Touchette and
Rebecca Stocker both had a knock, as
Brooklyn Sisk and Touchette also walked. Colvis dropped to a 2-6 record on the season.
Game TwoTouchette singled home
Adele Linderman in the top of the first before
Faith Koffron came around to score a little later to give Lindenwood a quick 2-0 lead. Starter
Bethany Fountain was chased from the game after two-plus innings in which she surrendered six runs on nine hits.
Kaitlyn VanHooser came in relief and the Bronchos responded with nine more hits and nine runs.
Payton Wilson recorded the final out of the fourth with the only batter she faced. After an
Alexis Theis single to lead off the fourth, the Lady Lions were sent down in order to end the game with a 15-2 loss.
Along with Touchette and Theis's singles, Koffron added a hit. VanHooser was charged with the loss, and falls to 1-2 on the season.
Lindenwood softball gets back to action tomorrow in Tahlequah, Okla. to battle Northeastern State for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
