Baseball Struggles to Contain Central Oklahoma

The Lindenwood baseball team fell 16-11 on Saturday to Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Okla.

The Lions started out hot with three runs in the top of the first.  Wes Degener scored on a wild pitch, and Mike Ehrhard hit a two-run home run to put Lindenwood up 3-0.  Central Oklahoma responding with a huge seven-run bottom of the first inning to take a 7-3 lead.  The Lions continued to put up runs in the top of the second after Nathan Prindle drove in Sam Baxter and Rayce Singbush on a single to left field.  Ehrhard drove in two more runs with a double to centerfield to tie the game at 7-7.

The Bronchos picked up three more runs in the bottom of the second, and one run in the bottom of the third inning to take an 11-7 lead.  Lindenwood cut into the Central Oklahoma lead with a two-run single by Paul Sherwood to put the Lions down 11-9.  In the bottom of the fifth, the Bronchos scored two runs, added two in the sixth, and one in the seventh to take a commanding 16-9 lead heading into the final two innings.

Baxter had an RBI-single in the eighth inning, and Bobby Lang drove in a run in the top of the ninth, but it was too little too late for the Lions as they fell 16-11 to the Bronchos.  Ehrhard drove in four runs, while Baxter led the squad with three hits.
