Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

No. 3 Women’s Lacrosse Handles No. 20 Florida Tech

 The No. 3 ranked Lindenwood women's lacrosse team defeated the No. 20 ranked Florida Tech Panthers 17-8 on Saturday evening from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.
 
The Lady Lions jumped out to a commanding 5-0 lead over the opening 10:06 of play. Lindenwood registered its first three scores on free position attempts. Hannah Doughty broke the scoring ice just 45 seconds into the first half with her first free position goal of the season. Morgan Judd followed up the Doughty score with a free position goal of her own 4:55 later, extending the Lady Lion lead to 2-0. Doughty cashed in on another free position attempt just 31 seconds later, making the score 3-0 in favor of Lindenwood. Sophie Buelow and Rachel Benzing would score at the 20:30 and 19:54 marks of the period, putting Lindenwood in front 5-0. Allison Hurley and Jordyn Constance recorded the assists on the Buelow and Benzing scores. Florida Tech would tally three of the next four goals, cutting the Lindenwood lead in half at 6-3. The Lady Lions would end the half by outscoring the Panthers 4-1 over the final 10:25 of play, growing their lead to 10-4 after 30 minutes of play. Maddi Ossello, Hurley, and Cassie Stucklen picked up the final four Lady Lion goals of the half, with Stucklen scoring twice.
 
Lindenwood continued its torrid pace at the start of the second half, scoring four of the first five goals during the second period. The Lady Lions would outscore the Panthers 7-4 during the final 30 minutes, winning by an eventual final of 17-8. In the cage for Lindenwood, Delaney Solomon played all 60 minutes, making seven saves en route to her fifth win of the season.
 
The Lady Lions received goals from 12 different players, including four players with multi-goal performances. Schimpke poured in a game-high three goals, extending her team-leading mark to 23 on the season. Constance and Benzing each contributed three assists.
 
For the game Lindenwood held the edge in shots (31-22), ground balls (27-13), and caused turnovers (16-7). Florida Tech had the advantage in draw controls (14-13). The Lady Lions were successful on 13 of their 18 clear attempts, including nine out of 10 during the second half.
 
Following the 17-8 victory, the Lady Lions improve their season record to 10-0. In defeat, Florida Tech moves its season record to 8-3 on the season. Lindenwood will return to action on Tuesday from Winter Park, Fla. For a 7:00 p.m. matchup with the No. 5 ranked Rollins Tars.
