The Lindenwood men's tennis team won the tiebreaking match to edge the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith while the women won just two matches on Tuesday afternoon.
On the men's side, each doubles match was close, but the Lions only lured in one win.
Slobodan Bavrlic and
Adrian Beloqui paired up at No. 2 doubles to win 8-5. In singles,
Filip Bogic won his eighth match in a row at No. 1 after losing the first set and coming back with routing two sets.
Naoufal El Idrissi dominated at No. 2 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory.
Theo Butaeye also won in straight sets at No. 3.
The match was tied at four wins apiece with Bavrlic's match still on the court. The senior stepped up in the clutch with a 7-5, 6-4 crucial win at No. 6 to ice the match 5-4 for the Lions.
For the women, both wins came from the racket of
Rebeca Aguilar. She teamed up with
Diana Castro at No. 3 doubles and won 8-5. She then moved up a spot in the singles lineup at No. 5 and won in straight sets. The Lady Lions nearly got two more singles victories at No. 1 and 6 as both of them went into three sets. The Lady Lions eventually fell by a final score of 7-2.
The women are set to play Northeastern State on Thursday at 2 pm while the men will take on East Central at the same time.
