Lions Lose to Harris-Stowe

The Lindenwood baseball team lost an 18-13 marathon game to Harris-Stowe on Tuesday night at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.

The Lions struggled to keep the Hornets form big innings as Harris-Stowe tallied a seven-run inning, and a six-run inning to gain the upper hand over Lindenwood.  The Hornets took a quick 2-0 lead, but the Lions tied the game in the bottom of the first with two runs of their own.  A big second inning gave Lindenwood a 6-2 lead after registering four runs.

After holding a 7-2 lead, the Lions allowed seven runs in the top off the sixth to lose hold of the lead.  Harris-Stowe added to its lead with a three-run seventh inning to take a 12-7 advantage.  Lindenwood powered back to regain the lead 13-12 in the bottom of the sixth, but the Hornet offense was too much as the Lions fell 18-13.

Rayce Singbush led the squad with four hits and five RBI, while Kyle Teter registered two base hits of his own.  Lindenwood had just 10 hits in the game, while its counterpart doubled the total of 20 hits.  Lucas Tibbs was the one bright spot on the pitching staff with three innings pitched, five strikeouts, and he did not allow a run.

Lindenwood falls to 15-19 on the season.  The Lions will travel to Jefferson City, Mo. on Wednesday to take on Lincoln at 4 p.m.
