No. 4 Women’s Lacrosse Rolls to Senior Day Victory

The No. 4 nationally ranked Lindenwood women's lacrosse team defeated in-state RMAC rival Rockhurst by a score of 22-1 on Saturday afternoon from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.
 
Prior to the start of the game, the Lady Lions paid homage to the six members of the 2016 senior class. All six seniors were featured in Lindenwood's starting lineup for the teams' regular season finale.
 
The Lady Lions broke the scoreless tie at the 27:46 mark of the opening period, on the strength of an Amanda Schimpke goal. Just 26 seconds later, Maddi Ossello followed the Schimpke score with a goal of her own, pushing Lindenwood ahead by a score of 2-0.
 
Stretching from 23:20 to 12:01 Lindenwood would rattle off six consecutive goals from six different goal scorers. The Lady Lions received goal contributions from Schimpke, Erin Abbott, Allison Hurley, Morgan Judd, Marissa Holliday, and Remi Larson to extend the lead to 9-0.
 
Lindenwood would find the back of the cage four more times during the half, growing its lead to 13-0 at the end of the opening 30 minutes of play.
 
The Lady Lions would outscore the Hawks 9-1 during the second half, bringing the final score to 22-1.
 
In the end, the Lady Lions would hold the edge in shots (34-12), ground balls (20-11), and draw controls (19-6). Lindenwood received goals from 16 different players, including all six members of the senior class.
 
With the 22-1 victory, the Lady Lions improve their season record to 14-2 and 6-0 in conference play. Following the defeat, Rockhurst moves its season record to 7-9 and 1-6 from within the RMAC.
 
Lindenwood will return to action on May 6-7 at the RMAC tournament, entering as the number one seed. The RMAC tournament will be played at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo. The Lady Lions will play in the conference semi-finals on May 6 at 2:00 p.m. versus a yet to be determined opponent.
