The Lions started off slowly in the first quarter, allowing three goals in the first five minutes. However, they bounced back in the second quarter, scoring four goals in a row to only trail by one. With 45 seconds remaining in the half,
Max Troha bulldozed through the Storm defense and scored his second goal of the season. The Storm managed to score one more goal to take a 6-4 lead before heading into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Lions cut the lead down to one at the 9:03 mark when
David Corazalla scored off a man-up opportunity. After the Storm scored again and the Lions were penalized for slashing,
Connor Laird forced a turnover and went to coast before passing to
Josh Coons for the man-down goal with 41 seconds left in the quarter.
Both teams remained scoreless in the fourth quarter until George found a pass from
Connor Eskridge to score his second goal of the game which tied the game up at seven.
Ben Besancenez registered a critical save with 23 seconds left in regulation to force overtime. However, the Storm would find the net first to ice the game in late overtime.
Kyle Lee and
Kevin Eskridge each scored a goal in the game while Coons, C. Eskridge, Corazalla, and
Sean Darroch picked up one assist each. Besancenez saved 13 shots on 36 faced. Laird caused two turnovers while four other Lions forced one each.
The Lions will return to Hunter Stadium on Friday, April 15 at 4 pm to take on Walsh.
