Baseball Wins Thriller Over Pittsburg State

The Lindenwood baseball team defeated Pittsburg State in a thrilling 10-9 victory in Pittsburg, Kan. on Friday night.
 
Wes Degener began the game with a solo shot to left field, and Mike Ehrhard pounded a shot over the right center field wall to take a quick 2-0 lead.  Drew Quinones drove in Ryan Sosnowski on an-RBI single to put Lindenwood up 3-0 after the top of the first. Pittsburg State grabbed two runs back in the bottom of the first, but still trailed by one run.
 
Geoff Hartlieb settled down after the first inning and had more help from Degener after an-RBI single increased the Lindenwood lead to two runs.  The Gorillas found their offense again in the seventh inning with two runs on three hits to tie the game 4-4.  Bobby Lang put Lion back on top with a double down the right field line to drive in Sosnowski  Lang scored on a sacrifice fly by Vince Saladino to give Lindenwood a 6-4 lead after the top of the eighth.
 
Again, Pittsburg State battled back with four runs in the bottom of the eighth to take its first lead of the game with an 8-6 advantage.  Degener began a rally to bring the Lions back from behind with an-RBI double.  Quinones came through in the clutch with a two-RBI double to left field to put the Lions back on top 9-8.  Lang continued to stay hot with a double to left field to drive in Quinones, extending the lead to 10-8.  Jevon Boyd shut the door in the ninth inning to help give Lindenwood a 10-9 victory in game two.
 
Lindenwood improves to 23-26 on the season and 17-21 in conference play.  The Lions conclude the three-game series with 1 p.m. game against Pittsburg State on Saturday in Pittsburg, Kan.
