The Lindenwood women's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw at Northwest Missouri Friday night in Maryville, Mo.
The Lady Lions controlled most of the first half, firing seven totals shot with each of them making its way on goal. Alyssa Houck broke through with 13 seconds remaining in the half when she accepted a pass from Taylor Wade and drilled it to the right post and the back of the net to score her first career goal as a Lady Lion.
Goalkeeper Lauren Greenstein turned away both shots the Bearcats put on goal, while the Lindenwood defense held Northwest Missouri to seven total attempts in the half.
The hosts held the momentum for the first 18 minutes of the second half, launching four shots before Lindewood could attempt one. The Lady Lions then marched down the field looking to increase their lead. After Alexis Robbers and Taylor Wade sailed shots wide, Jackie Lindner scored her first goal of the season to give the visitors a 2-0 lead with less than 25 minutes remaining.
After the goal, Lindenwood was held to just two more shots compared to the Beacats' six. Northwest got on the scoreboard in the 73rd minute, and then tied it at two apiece 13 minutes later. Izzy Romano would tally an assist on each of the Bearcats' goals, with the second coming with less than four minutes left in regulation.
Lindenwood's best opportunity in overtime came in the first minute when Kat Roe put the ball on goal before it was knocked away by the Northwest keeper. Each team would total two shots in the overtime sessions, but neither could break the tie. After 110 minutes, the match was knotted 2-2.
Becky Roberts added an assist to her stat line on the Lindner goal, while Robbers led the team with four shots and three on goal. Greenstein tallied a career-high eight saves in the tie.
The draw brings the Lady Lions to 3-2-1 on the season, and will look to get back in the win column on Sunday in their first MIAA match at Missouri Western. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. in St. Joseph, Mo.
