The Lindenwood women's volleyball team defeated Pittsburg State 3-0 on Friday night with wins of 25-16, 25-19, and 25-22 in Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo.

The Lady Lions jumped out to an early lead in the first set and did not let up, cruising to a 25-16 victory.Â
Alex Bogusz and
Alex Dahlstrom each had four kills to help lead the team past the Gorillas.Â
Allyson Clancy dished out 12 assists and
Megan Hellwege tallied five digs. Lindenwood hit .333 as a team with a total of 16 kills and two blocks.

Jessica Krygsheld registered four kills to help the Lady Lions to another easy victory in a 25-19 set-two win. Clancy compiled 13 assists and four different Lady Lions tallied a block. Lindenwood improved its hitting percentage to .346 while holding the Gorillas to .160.

Lindenwood had more of a chore in the third set as the Gorillas fought even with the Lady Lions all the way to a 17-17 score. From there the two teams played back-and-forth volleyball until Lindenwood pulled away with a 21-19 lead. Pittsburg State tied the game again at 22-22, but the Lady Lions roared back with two quick points and a block to end the match with a 25-22 set-three win.

The Lady Lions hit .286 on the night with the help of Dahlstrom who had 11 kills while hitting .500 and Krygsheld who registered a team-high 13 kills. Clancy dished out 40 dimes and the team tallied six blocks.

Lindenwood improves to 5-6 on the season and 1-0 in the MIAA. The Lady Lions will take on Central Oklahoma at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo.
