The Lindenwood wrestling team returned from its Christmas break in full form when it took care of business behind a 38-12 victory over Ouachita Baptist on Saturday. It was the Lions' second dual win of the season.
The Lions stormed right out of the gate with dominating performances from
Carlos Jacquez and
Hunter Haralson at 125 and 133 pounds respectively. Jacquez finished off his opponent by a pin 2:38 into the match while Haralson took down his foe 2:42 into his match.
Ronnie Gentile faced a tough opponent in Blake Clevenger at 149 pounds, but Gentile was able to squeak away with a 4-3 decision win to give the Lions a 15-6 lead. After Ouachita Baptist registered a pin to cut the Lions' lead to three points,
Kyle Jolas provided insurance with a 9-1 major decision at 165 pounds followed the Lions' third pin thanks to
Batchka Zulkhuu at 174 pounds.
The Lions continued their dominance behind
David Hamil's 17-5 major decision victory at 184 pounds, a 3-2 decision win from
Dillon Archer at 197 pounds, and their fourth and final pin from
Jake Borgmeyer at 285.
The Lions will take a few days off before heading out west for a visit to Nebraska-Kearney in an MIAA matchup scheduled on Thursday at 7 pm.
