Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Controlled the Game, but Fell 2-1 on Friday Night

The Lindenwood women's soccer team lost 2-1 to Washburn on Friday night at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.

The Lions took an early 1-0 lead after Becky Roberts powered the ball past the keeper from close distance after a great pass from Jordan Wipke.  Lindenwood controlled the first half and took a 1-0 lead into the break.

Washburn fought back with a goal from a near-impossible angle in the 70th minute to tie the game 1-1.  In the 86th minute, the Ichabods struck again to take a 2-1 lead with little time to spare.  The Lions could not mount a comeback in the short amount of time and dropped the Friday night bout by one goal.

Lindenwood falls to 4-8-1 on the season and 1-4-1 in the MIAA while the Ichabods improve to 8-4-1 on the year and 3-2-0 in conference play.  The Lions will host Emporia State on Sunday at 11 a.m. while also honoring their four seniors at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.
