The Lindenwood women's hockey team was defeated 6-1 by the Mercyhurst Lakers on Saturday afternoon at Lindenwood Ice Arena in Wentzville, Mo.
Sierra Burt scored her second power-play goal of the season in the loss for the Lions.
Mercyhurst seized control of the game at the midway point of the first period, scoring twice within a 63-second span, to take a two-goal lead. Megan Korzack scored at the 10:13 mark of the period, and Molly Blasen followed with a goal just over one minute later.

Jolene deBruyn stopped 14 of the 16 shots directed her way during the period, which ended with the Lions trailing 2-0.
Mercyhurst scored three times during the middle frame, extending its lead to a five-goal margin.
Burt netted the lone Lindenwood goal of the afternoon while on the power play in the third period. Burt's second goal of the season was assisted by
Mariah Hinds and
Taylor Girard.
The Lakers scored once more before the end of the game, pushing the score to its final count of 6-1.
Sarah McGall relieved deBruyn in goal for Lindenwood with just under six minutes remaining in the second period, and finished the game with 20 saves on 22 shots faced.
With the loss, Lindenwood moves to 1-4-1 on the season and 1-1-0 in conference action. Lindenwood will travel to Rochester, N.Y. for a two-game series with the RIT Tigers on Oct. 27-28.
