The Lindenwood wrestling team found success at the Maryville Kaufman-Brand Open in St. Louis, Mo. on Saturday.
Fifteen of the Lions placed in their respective weight classes, including a first-place finish for
Carlos Jacquez in the 125 weight division.
Hunter Haralson went 3-0 on the day and won his respective weight class of 133.
Danny Swan went 3-2 in a strong 141 weight class, and
Shea Spradley took fourth place in the 165 weight class.
Kyle Jolas wrestled as an unattached wrestler as he flew through the 165 weight division to take the title.
Jared McKindley placed above multiple regionally-ranked wrestlers to earn a fourth-place finish in the 197 weight class.
Jake Borgmeyer fell in the semifinals of his 285 weight class as his loss came to the defending NAIA Champion. Borgmeyer won the Gorgarian Award for the most falls in the open division in the least amount of time.
Tanner Hitchcock had a clean sweep through the 125 weight class in the freshman/sophomore division. Hitchcock also claimed the Outstanding Wrestler Award for the tournament. Tage McNutt and
Blake Zalapi both wrestled unattached and each won their respective weight divisions.
Tim Bogar was 3-0 before his day was cut short due to injury.
Nate Trepanier finished third in his weight class while
Austin Stofer placed second.
The Lions will host the Lindenwood Open next Saturday in St. Charles, Mo.
