The Lindenwood men's basketball team earned another non-conference victory on Tuesday night at Hyland Arena. The Lions defeated Beloit by an 83-58 score.

The Lions led by double-digit points for the final 36:22 of the ballgame after opening the contest by scoring 14 of the first 16 points. Lindenwood would lead 43-21 at halftime, and it built a 25-point advantage on two occasions late in the game.

Lindenwood won the game with a strong defense, especially in the first 20 minutes. The Lions held the Buccaneers to just 36 percent shooting in the first half, and they forced 14 turnovers. For the game, Beloit shot 45.5 percent from the field, but just 10.5 percent from three-point range. The Buccaneers also had 22 turnovers, and Lindenwood had 15 steals, the fourth-most in program history.

Offensively, Lindenwood had a balanced attack with five players scoring double-figure points. The Lions went to the free-throw line 38 times in the contest, the tenth-most in school history, and they converted 28 of those shots into points. Lindenwood also had 13 offensive rebounds, which led to 18 second-chance points.

Brad Newman was the team's leading scorer with 18 points, including a perfect nine-of-nine from the free-throw line.
Chandler Diekvoss finished with 17 points, and had team-highs with five rebounds and three assists.
TJ Crockett had 14 points in his first collegiate start, and
Max Meylor led the team in bench points with 11.
Adam Pohlman had 10 points, and had team-highs with five boards and five steals. The five steals were the second-most in Lindenwood history, just one behind the school record.

Lindenwood improves to 5-1 on the season. The Lions will be home again on Saturday afternoon for a 2 p.m. game against Ecclesia.
