Lindenwood went 4-0 in Great Plains Collegiate Inline Hockey League (GPCIHL) action November 3-4 at Midwest Sport Hockey in Ballwin, Missouri. The Lions defeated Missouri 13-2 and Bethel (Tenn.) 5-2 on Friday, then stopped D2 Kansas State 7-3 and outlasted Bethel again in overtime 5-4 on Sunday.
In the game against the Tigers, senior Daniel Rosse led the way with four goals and one assist. He was also named 1
st Star for the game, followed by freshman forward Nick DellaMorte as the 2
nd Star, and senior defenseman Jalen Krogman as the 3
rd Star.
Junior defenseman Adam Swims complimented his team.
"Our team play and passing was on point that game," he said. "We were really moving the puck well."
Lindenwood outshot Mizzou 30-8 and freshman David Farley stopped six of the eight pucks he faced to earn the win in goal. The Lions also converted on three of four power plays against Missouri. DellaMorte, Rosse, and Cody Page each scored for the Lions with the man advantage.
In games two and four over the weekend, Lindenwood faced the Bethel Wildcats. DellaMorte scored the game-winning goal in the first match-up with 6:26 remaining in the third period and was named 1
st Star for the effort.
The second meeting of the weekend went to overtime before the Lions prevailed. Lindenwood outshot Bethel 45-18 in that contest with goals coming from Page, forward Anthony Erace, Swims, Krogman, and DellaMorte. Farley stopped 14 of 18 shots in goal to earn the victory.
Lindenwood also defeated Division 2 opponent Kansas State on Saturday. The Lions outshot the Wildcats 45-10 in the game. Goals were scored by sophomore forward Steve Farina, Rosse, and freshman forward, Austin Steger.
Swims discussed some of the keys to success over the weekend and for the season.
"We have to play our system and execute," he said. "It's worked so far and we're undefeated, but we have a long way to go. These are just small victories and we have to keep taking it one game at a time."
Roller hockey travels to Huntington Beach, California November 11-12 for the West Coast Roller Hockey League Inter-Regional. The Lions will face California – Santa Barbara at 10 a.m. and Arizona State at 1 p.m. on Saturday, followed by Cal State Fullerton at 11 a.m. Sunday.
