The No. 15 Lindenwood wrestling team was led by
Carlos Jacquez who won the 125-pound title at the two-day Midwest Classic in Indianapolis, Ind. which concluded on Sunday.
The Lions placed three wrestlers on the weekend, which is the most the team has placed in program history at the Midwest Classic. No. 9 Jacquez picked up two tech falls before knocking off No. 6 Maleek Williams from Upper Iowa in the championship match. Jacquez is just the second champion for Lindenwood at the Midwest Classic after dropping Williams who is a two-time NCAA qualifier.
Austin Stofer lost his first match of the tournament in the 165-pound weight class, but battled back and won four-straight to end the weekend with a seventh-place finish.
Jake Borgmeyer finished sixth in the 285-pound weight class as his one loss came to No. 8 Dylan Faulkenberg in the quarterfinals before taking a medical forfeit in the consolation semifinal match.

Hunter Haralson cruised to the 133-pound quarterfinals after scoring a pin in the first round and a tech fall in the second round. Haralson lost via sudden victory in the quarterfinal match and dropped his next match by just one point. No. 10
Danny Swan had a similar route to his day after losing to No. 9 Will Roark in a two-point decision in the quarterfinals and then lost by one point in the consolation bracket of the 141-pound weight division.
The Lions will return to action on Jan. 7 for their first home match of the season as they host Ouachita Baptist at 4 p.m. in Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo.
