The Lindenwood baseball team dropped the season opener 6-5 to Christian Brothers in Memphis, Tenn. on Friday afternoon.

Lindenwood registered eight hits and left 10 runners stranded as the Bucs tallied 11 hits with nine runners left on base and both teams committed two errors each.Â
Wes Degener went 2-for-3 on the day with one triple, one walk, and one runs scored.Â
Rayce Singbush had two hits of his own and added two stolen bases to his stat line.Â
Sam Baxter drove in two runs on the day with one hit and one walk while
Blake Beckmann started on the bump for the Lions and tallied two strikeouts in five innings pitched and allowed three earned runs.

Degener drew a walk to open the season and was able to move to third base after two wild pitches.Â
Brett Andersen, a junior transfer, drove in the first run of the year on a full-count single up the middle.Â
Ryan Sosnowski and
Drew Quinones each drew a walk, and Baxter drove in both runners on a single to center to put Lindenwood up 3-0. Christian Brothers responded with four runs in the bottom of the first as all four runs were scored with two outs.

Lindenwood tied the game in the top of the fourth when Christian Brothers attempted to end the inning on with a double play, but an errant throw allowed junior transfer
Conor Behrens to cross the plate. The Bucs scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth after back-to-back singles put the Lions in a 6-4 hole.Â
Kyle Teter reached on a throwing error in the top of the ninth and later scored in the inning, but Lindenwood could not find enough offense to come back and fell 6-5 on Friday.

Lindenwood falls to 0-1 after the season opener while Christian Brothers improves to 1-1 on the year. The Lions will look to bounce back on Saturday against Christian Brother for a 1 p.m. game in Memphis, Tenn.
