A shorthanded Lindenwood gymnastics team struggled in its final tuneup before the MIC Championships on Friday evening in Normal, Ill. The Lady Lions lost to Illinois State by a score of 193.025-191.650.
Â
Lindenwood had three first-place finishes in the meet, including two by
Kierstin Sokolowski. She won the beam with a mark of 9.800, and tied for the overall high score on the vault with a 9.775. Sokolowski was also fourth in her third event, scoring a 9.750 on the bars.
Aubree Horn took the final first-place, tying for the bars crown with a score of 9.775. She was fourth on the vault with a mark of 9.700.
Â
Other notable performances including a third-place showing on the floor by
Katey Oswalt with a 9.750, and a third-place performance by
Breanna Franklin and Oswalt on the beam after both scored a 9.725. In her only event of the night,
Andavea Alexander had a 9.700 on the bars.
Â
While Lindenwood was near the top of the leaderboard in all four events, it didn't have the depth it normally displays. Illinois State had better scores in three of the four events, with the Lady Lions winning only the beam.
Â
Lindenwood returns to the state of Illinois next week for the MIC Championships, which will be held in Chicago on Saturday starting at 2 p.m.
