Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse (Discontinued) |

Lions' Huge Fourth Quarter Powers Them Past Alderson Broaddus

The No. 4 ranked Lindenwood men's lacrosse team cruised by Alderson Broaddus with a 15-6 score on Monday night.

The Battlers competed close with the Lions for the first three quarters as they only trailed by three points at the most. In the first quarter, the Lions were outscored 3-2, but tied the game twice behind goals from the sticks of Garrett Brunsvold and Josh Coons. Towards the end of the quarter, the Lions surged on offense, attempting three shots in the last minute to tie the game again. However, none of them converted into a goal for the Lions.

The Battlers increased their intensity in the beginning of the second quarter by extending their lead to two at the 13:35 mark. The Lions halted that momentum real quick when a scoring spree ensued thanks to two more goals from Coons and one each from David Corazalla and Sean Darroch. As halftime approached, the Lions led 6-4.

In the third quarter, the Battlers emulated what they did in the second quarter, scoring the first goal of the period early. Kyle Lee then came out and punched in back-to-back unassisted scores to increase the Lions' lead to 8-5 at the 2:01 mark. The Battlers managed to collect a late goal to keep the game contested with six seconds left in the quarter.

Kevin Eskridge scored a goal at the 9:55 mark in the fourth quarter in which would be signature milestone for the senior. He joined teammates Corazalla and Coons as the third Lion to reach the 100-career-point barrier this season. That goal sparked a blitz of six more goals from the Lions from five different players – Eskridge twice, Lee, Sean Darroch, Max Troha, and Sam Heaton – to pull away from the feisty Battlers.

The Lions outshot the Battlers in three of the quarters to total a 56-30 tally. Tyler Schermann led the way with nine groundballs and converting 14 of 22 faceoffs. Four different players registered at least three points for the game – Eskridge, Coons, Darroch, and Lee. During the first three quarters, the Lions turned the ball over 15 times as opposed to none in the dominant fourth quarter.

After the victory, the Lions improve their record to 4-1 on the season. They will prepare to face Wheeling Jesuit on the road on Thursday starting at 6 pm CT.
