The Lindenwood baseball team lost 5-0 to Union University in a non-conference game in Jackson, Tenn. on Wednesday evening.
Â
The Lions match the hit totals of Union as both squads had nine apiece while the Bulldogs tacked on three runs in the first inning. Lindenwood stranded nine runners in the game and each team used a total of five pitchers in the nine-inning game.
Â
Paul Sherwood and
Tyler Muehling each had two hits in the game while
Kyle Hentis tossed three innings and tallied six strikeouts. Lindenwood had a chance to get on the board in the fifth inning, but a double-play to end the inning with bases loaded deflated the offense.
Â
Lindenwood drops to 13-8 on the year while Union improves to 18-5 on the season. The Lions will return to the Lou Brock Sports Complex on Friday to take on Central Oklahoma in the first game of a three-game series starting at 6 p.m. in St. Charles, Mo.
