The Lindenwood men's tennis team swept Quincy 9-0 while the women cruised to an 8-1 victory on Tuesday from the Lions' tennis courts.
In doubles, the Lions took care of business at No. 1 and 2 easily.
Filip Bogic and
Naoufal El Idrissi notched their 10th victory of the season in the top slot behind an 8-4 score while
Michele Gaspari and
Antoine Barraud dominated their opponents by a final score of 8-1 in the No. 2 bout. In the last spot, the Hawks put up a fight against
Theo Butaeye and
Adrian Beloqui, but the Lions would prevail in a tiebreaker to sweep doubles.
Bogic continues to pour on his opponents in the top singles spot as he coasted 6-0, 6-0 for his seventh victory in a row and 10th overall this season. El Idrissi also had little trouble at No. 2, registering a 6-3, 6-1 score for his ninth win on the year. In the No. 3 through 5 matches, the Lions would not be stopped as each set was either 6-2 or less.
Corentin Seywart was tested at No. 6 in a three-setter, but he would prevail in the super tiebreaker by a score of 10-4.
The women also swept through doubles.
Clara Piccamiglio paired up with
Diana Castro to clinch an 8-3 win at No. 1 while
Anna Barbasheva and
Rebeca Aguilar teamed up to win a competitive 8-6 match at No. 2.
Haya Hamed and
Alexis McCarthy capped it off with an 8-3 win at No. 3.
In singles, Quincy managed to collect a victory at No. 1, but it could not slow down the Lady Lions. Aguilar picked up her 10th win of the season at No. 5 behind a 6-1, 6-4 score while Piccamiglio won her team-leading 11th match of the season at No. 3 behind a 6-1, 6-1 route. Hamed won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 while Castro recorded a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 4.
Savannah Martin came in at No. 6 and cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win.
After the victories, the men improve to 7-9 while the women become 7-11. They will travel to Maryville, Mo. on Friday to face Northwest Missouri State at 3 pm.
