Feldmann Tosses Three-Hit Shutout in 8-0 Victory over Washburn

The Lindenwood baseball team opened its three-game series against Washburn with an 8-0 victory on Thursday night at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.

Brendan Feldmann was the primary reason for the shutout victory as he allowed just three hits and struck out seven batters in hits complete-game win.  Wes Degener sparked the Lions offense early in the game and ended the night with three hits while legging out an infield-single late in the game.  Kyle Teter had a productive night with three RBI on two hits as both base knocks were RBI-doubles.

Degener opened the game with a single to center field and Ryan Sosnowski was hit by a pitch to put two runners on.  Teter doubled to right field to drive in each runner and give the Lions an early 2-0 lead.  The second inning was wild one that began with a single up the middle by Rayce Singbush.  Sam Baxter hit a single up the middle while Singbush scored and Baxter moved up a base after a throwing error by the Ichabods.

Baxter later scored in the inning on a wild pitch and Degener took his spot on the corner.  Tyler Muehling roped a double down the left field line to drive in another run and the inning was capped off by an RBI-single to center field by Drew Quinones to put Lindenwood ahead 6-0.  Lindenwood added two runs in the bottom of the seventh including an RBI-double to center field by Teter that allowed Dillon Richardson to score from first base.

Feldmann finished the game strong as he allowed just two hits in the final three innings of play.  The Lions posted six runs on six hits in the first two innings off of Washburn pitcher Nick Silva who was named MIAA Pitcher of the Year and first-team all-region last season.

Lindenwood improves to 23-14 on the year and 16-9 in the MIAA while Washburn falls to 19-18 on the season and 11-15 in conference play.  The Lions and Ichabods are set to play game two at 6 p.m. on Friday night at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.
