Baseball Tallies 4-3 Win After Completing Comeback on Friday

The Lindenwood baseball team rallied from behind to pull out a 4-3 win over Fort Hays State on Friday night in Hays, Kan.
 
The Lindenwood pitching staff stood strong in the 4-3 victory as Andrew Eilers tallied his fifth win on the year and Connor Law registered his eighth save on the season.  Eilers went seven innings and compiled seven strikeouts as he allowed just six hits.  Law allowed just two hits and struck out five batters in his two innings pitched.  Wes Degener led the team with three hits and added three putouts in the field.
 
The Lions fell behind 2-0 after allowing a two-run double in the bottom of the fourth inning.  The Tigers added another run in the bottom of the fifth to build a 3-0 cushion.  Lindenwood finally got on the board with a run scored on a throwing error by the Tigers.  Sam Baxter drew a bases-loaded walk to cut the deficit to 3-2.
 
Kyle Teter was hit by a pitch with bases loaded to help the Lions tie the game at 3-3.  Nick Paulda drew a five-pitch walk to give Lindenwood its first lead of the game after the eighth inning.  Law shut the door in his two innings of work.  Lindenwood tallied its 20th win of the season after the 4-3 victory on Friday night in Hays, Kan.
 
Lindenwood moves to 20-14 on the season and 13-9 in the MIAA while Fort Hays State falls to 9-23 on the season and 2-17 in conference play.  The Lions will take on the Tigers in the second game of the series on Saturday for a 6 p.m. start in Hays, Kan.
