Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Ganz, Nenadic Lead Men’s Soccer to Season’s First Victory

The Lindenwood men's soccer team began the 2017 season with a 3-0 victory over the Truman State Bulldogs on Friday evening from Quincy, Ill. Michele Ganz scored the first two goals of his Lindenwood career, as he helped the team remain unbeaten in its last six season openers.

Ganz wasted little time putting Lindenwood in front, scoring just 68 seconds into the neutral site match. Gaspar Alvarez connected on a long pass to Ganz who booted the ball from 13 yards out into the left corner of the goal.

Lindenwood outshot Truman State by a five-to-one margin during the first half, and protected its one-goal lead heading into halftime.

With nearly four minutes gone by in the second half, Lindenwood grew its lead to two goals as Ganz again found the back of the net. The freshman forward created a turnover in the Truman State goal box, took possession of the ball, and buried it into the bottom right corner from eight yards away.

In the 70th minute of the match, Gabriel Jaimes received a pass from Ganz and fired the ball from 12 yards out into the back of the net. Jaimes' goal brought the game to its final score of 3-0, as Lindenwood completed the shutout victory.

Lindenwood goalkeeper Aleksa Nenadic recorded his first shutout of the season, and the fifth of his career for the Lions. Nenadic posted one first-half save.

The Lions held the edge in shots for the game, 7-1.

Lindenwood will return to action on Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. for a non-conference matchup with the Quincy Hawks from Quincy, Ill.
