The No. 17 Lindenwood men's soccer team was defeated by the Quincy Hawks on Sunday evening from Quincy, Ill. Quincy tallied the lone goal of the match off of a penalty kick in the 83
rd minute.
The match was dominated by each team's defensive units, both of which limited scoring opportunities for its opposition throughout the evening. Lindenwood outshot Quincy during the first half by a 3-2 margin. Despite the advantage in shots, the Lions entered halftime deadlocked at zero.
As second-half play carried on into the 68
th minute, Lindenwood's
Gabriel Jaimes was whistled off for his second yellow card of the match, forcing the Lions to play the remainder of the contest with just 10 players.
Just over 15 minutes later, Quincy would generate a scoring chance near the Lindenwood goal, resulting in a handball charged to the Lions. The result of the handball was a penalty kick for Quincy's Chirs McArthur. McArthur stuck the ball just out of the reach of Lindenwood goalkeeper
Aleksa Nenadic, giving the Hawks a one-goal lead.
Nenadic stopped four of the five shots sent his way.
Quincy recorded the only three shots on goal during the second half, and held a 5-3 edge in shots on goal for the match.

Noah Savage, and Jaimes each registered one shot on goal during the match, tying for the team-lead.
The Lions were whistled for 20 fouls during the match, while the Hawks were charged with just seven fouls. In addition, Lindenwood was charged with six yellow cards to Quincy's zero.
Lindenwood moves to 1-1 on the season with the defeat, and will return to action on Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. The Lions will travel to Kansas City, Mo. to take on No. 3 Rockhurst.
