The Lindenwood tennis teams competed at the Wheatstate Fall Classic on September 8-9. On the men's side, the Lions performed well at the event, reaching the finals in four of the five singles brackets. For the women's team,
Kylie McCarthy reached the semifinals of her No. 3 singles draw.
Andrei Masin led the way for the Lindenwood, winning the No. 1 singles draw in straight sets. Masin cruised through the tournament, defeating all four of his opponents in straight sets en route to the tournament championship.
Antoine Barraud reached the finals of the No. 3 singles draw, ultimately falling in two sets during the championship match. Barraud advanced to the finals of the No. 3 singles draw with three-consecutive three-set victories.
Michele Gaspari and
Tudor Ghenea each advanced to the finals of their respective singles draws. Gaspari competed at No. 4 singles, while Ghenea played at No. 5. The duo of Gaspari and Ghenea teamed up for to secure the title at No. 5 doubles.
Teresa Melicharkova advanced to the quarterfinals in the No. 1 singles draw on the women's side.
Alexis McCarthy reached the quarterfinals while competing at No. 2 singles.
The men's team will return to the court on Saturday afternoon for a dual match with William Woods. The match will begin at 1:00 p.m. from Fulton, Mo.
The women's team will next be in action at the ITA Central Regional on Sep. 29-30 from Bolivar, Mo.
