Lions Football Takes On Washburn On Family Day This Saturday

Storylines
- This Saturday, the Lindenwood football team will look to move to 2-0 this season at Hunter Stadium when it faces Washburn in a 6 p.m. game. The game will be a part of Family Day festivities at Lindenwood University.

- Lindenwood picked up its first win of the season last week with a record-breaking performance against Northeastern State. The Lions won 49-10, tying its NCAA-era records for most points scored and fewest points allowed in a game. Lindenwood also set a school record with 417 rushing yards, and its 686 total yards of offense were the fourth-most in program history.

- Washburn will enter the game, like Lindenwood, with a 1-1 overall record. The Ichabods gave No. 1 Northwest Missouri a scare last weekend before falling 20-14. In the opening week of the season, Washburn defeated Northeastern State by a 31-7 margin.

- Lindenwood and Washburn have had a short, but exciting history. The Ichabods currently lead the series by a 3-2 margin, including a 1-1 mark at Hunter Stadium. All five games have been decided by single-digit points, and four of the games have been decided by less than a touchdown.

- Last season, the Lions fell to Washburn in Topeka, Kan. by a 34-29 score. Washburn led 34-7 at one point, and had a 34-13 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Lindenwood cut that lead to five points with 3:34 left, but could not get one more touchdown for the come-from-behind win.

- After last week's performance, Lindenwood currently ranks 14th in NCAA Division II with 257.5 rushing yards per game, and it is averaging 7.0 yards per carry. Washburn will enter Saturday's game 18th in the nation by allowing just 80.5 rushing yards a game, and it is holding teams to just 2.3 yards per rush.
