The Lindenwood men's soccer team defeated the No. 16 Upper Iowa Peacocks by a final score of 2-1 from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.
Steven Lilako scored his first goal as a Lion in the 67th minute, which would prove to be the game-winning score.
Lindenwood dominated Upper Iowa throughout the first half, outshooting the Peacocks by a total of 12-1 during the opening frame. Despite the significant advantage in shots, Lindenwood and Upper Iowa entered halftime scoreless.
Following an Upper Iowa handball inside its own goal box during the 57th minute of play, Lindenwood was awarded a penalty kick. For the second time this season,
Michele Ganz took the penalty kick for the Lions and deposited the ball into the back of the net. For Ganz the score was his team-leading fourth score of the year.
Exactly 10 minutes after the Ganz goal, Lindenwood extended its lead to a two-goal margin off of a score from Lilako.
Ryan Butchart fed Lilako with a cross pass on the right side of the net to earn the assist.
Upper Iowa would spoil Lindenwood's shutout bid in the match's final minute, however, Lindenwood prevailed by the final score of 2-1.

Tim Licht posted two saves to register his second victory of the season.
For the match, Lindenwood held the advantage in shots (22-5), shots on goal (8-3), and corner kicks (7-1).
With the victory, Lindenwood improves to 3-3-0 on the season, and 1-0-0 from within the MIAA. The Lions will return to action at Hunter Stadium on Wednesday afternoon for a 1:00 p.m. matchup with the Ouachita Baptist Tigers.
