Men’s Soccer Extends Win Streak to Three with Shutout Victory

The Lindenwood men's soccer team captured its third-consecutive victory on Wednesday afternoon at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo. The Lions defeated the Ouachita Baptist Tigers by a final score of 2-0, after receiving goals from Michele Ganz and Lino Schneeberg.

After 16 scoreless minutes to begin the non-conference match, Ganz found the back of the net with his team-leading fifth goal of the season, giving Lindenwood a 1-0 lead. Stefan Andric tallied the assist on the play, his second helper of the season.

Lindenwood's goal in the 17th minute of the match would prove to be the only score of the first half. The Lions held an 11-2 advantage in shots during the opening period.

Lindenwood protected its one-goal lead for nearly 35 minutes to begin the second half. As the match moved into its 80th minute, Adnan Mahmutovic sent a corner kick inside the goal box from the right corner of the field. Lino Schneeberg found the ball with his head and directed it into the lower right corner of the goal, giving Lindenwood a 2-0 lead. For Schneeberg the goal was the first of his Lindenwood career.

The Lions would maintain the two-goal lead for the duration of the match, securing the team's third victory in as many games.

Tim Licht notched his third victory in goal for Lindenwood, stopping two shots along the way.

Joshua Scholl led the match with three shots on goal, and Lindenwood finished the afternoon with a 9-2 advantage in that category. The Lions also held a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.

With the victory, Lindenwood improves its record to 4-3-0 on the season. The Lions will travel to Tahlequah, Okla. on Friday for a 7:00 p.m. match with the Northeastern State RiverHawks.
