Field Hockey Explodes for Five Goals at Converse

GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood field hockey scored five goals in a 5-0 shutout of Converse in Newberry, S.C. Bridget Hoogendijk and Megan Martin led the scoring with two goals each. Shelby Pierson scored the other Lion goal. The win moves Lindenwood to 7-2 overall.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Bridget Hoogendijk opened the scoring with a goal in the 31st minute with an assist from Caro Theunisz.
- In the 54th minute, Annick Giebels sent a pass from the top right of the arc to the opposite side of the goal, where Megan Martin finished, her first goal of the season.
- Hoogendijk tallied her second goal of the game in the 56th minute, again assisted by Theunisz. The goal was Hoogendijk's 10th of the season and her 30th career goal, third all-time at Lindenwood. 
- Shelby Pierson scored her first goal of the season in the 62nd minute. Noor Fons sent the ball across the arc and Pierson finished from distance to extend the Lion lead to 4-0.
- In the 65th minute, Lauren Roberts sent a ball deep downfield, where a streaking Martin finished for her second goal of the game. 
- In goal, Mackenzie Litterst played all 70 minutes, recording her first shutout of the season. She also notched three saves. 
- As a team, the Lions out-shot Converse 23-6 in the game. 

UP NEXT
Lindenwood returns home on Oct. 6 for a 6 p.m. contest against Bellarmine at Harlen C. Hunter Stadium.
