Alvarez, McBeth Score in Draw for Men’s Soccer

MATCH OVERVIEW
The Lindenwood men's soccer team earned a 2-2 draw at Delta State on Friday afternoon in Cleveland, Miss. The tie moves Lindenwood's record to 6-4-3 on the season.

The Lions scored the only two goals of the first half, and carried a two-goal edge into the halftime intermission. Gaspar Alvarez scored in the seventh minute of the match, while Luke McBeth found the back of the net in the 33rd minute.

Delta State rallied back with two goals of its own during the second half, tying the game at 2-2, and sending the match to overtime.

Neither team was able to find the go-ahead score before time expired, ending the match in a 2-2 draw.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Alvarez's goal, his seventh of the season, is his third score in the last four matches for the Lions.
- Adnan Mahmutovic picked up the assist on the Alvarez goal, his first assist and point of the season.
- McBeth's score was his second goal of the season, and raised his point total to five.
- Matt Rush notched his first career point on the play with an assist.
- Tim Licht made the start in goal for the Lions, his fifth of the season.
- Licht turned in a season-high nine saves, the most saves in a match by a Lindenwood goalkeeper this season.
- Delta State outshot Lindenwood 20-13, and also held an 11-6 edge in shots on goal.

Lindenwood will return to action on Sunday afternoon at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo. The Lions will host the Upper Iowa Peacocks at 1:30 p.m.
