Men's Soccer Extends Unbeaten Streak with Win

MATCH OVERVIEW
The Lindenwood men's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to four matches with a 4-3 win over Ouachita Baptist from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo. on Friday afternoon. The Lions have lost just one match in their last eight, and improved their record to 8-4-3 with Friday's non-conference victory.

Fernando Cordero opened the scoring with a successful penalty kick goal in the 10th minute of the match.

Following a Ouachita Baptist goal in the 15th minute, Lindenwood regained its one-goal advantage in the the 20th minute on a score from Kyle Weinrich.

Lindenwood added to its lead just eight seconds before halftime, as Johannes Brendle found the back of the net to extend the lead to 3-1.

Lindenwood's Gaspar Alvarez pushed the lead to 4-1 with a goal in the 51st minute. However, just 30 seconds later, the visiting Tigers scored to cut the Lions' lead to 4-2.

Ouachita Baptist scored again in the 64th minute, to shrink the Lindenwood lead to just one goal.

The Lions held off the Tigers for the remainder of the match to pick up the non-conference victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Alvarez's goal was his team-leading ninth score of the season, and extended his personal scoring streak to four consecutive matches.
- Alvarez ranks second on the team with 18 points.
- Cordero's penalty-kick goal was his third goal of the season, and his second score of the year on a penalty kick.
- Jose de Gregorio assisted on Weinrich's first goal of the season. For de Gregorio, the assist was his fifth of the year, the second-highest total on the team.
- Madlenkosi Seremani picked up his first assist and point of the season on Brendle's goal.
- Joshua Scholl picked up his third assist and 17th point of the season with the assist on Alvarez's goal.
- Aleksa Nenadic made three saves in goal to register his seventh win of the season.
- Lindenwood outshot Ouachita Baptist 21-10 for the match, including a 9-6 edge in shots on goal.

Lindenwood will conclude its regular season home schedule on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 during a match with No. 10 Fort Hays State. Prior to the start of the match, Lindenwood will honor the members of its senior class as part of its annual senior day ceremonies.
