Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Women's Hockey Ties Robert Morris 2-2 on Friday

GAME OVERVIEW
The Lindenwood women's hockey team (1-5-1, 0-2-1 CHA) tied Robert Morris (3-5-1, 1-1-1 CHA) on Friday by a final of 2-2 in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Taylor Girard put the Lions on the board at 11:06 of the first period after knocking in a one-timer from a tough angle to give Lindenwood a 1-0 lead.  Robert Morris quickly tied the game after scoring a power play goal just two minutes later.  The Lions had a late power play, but both teams went into the break with the game tied at 1-1.

The Colonials took the lead at the 13:12 mark of the second period after killing a penalty.  Lindenwood kept fighting, but the game remained 2-1 in favor of Robert Morris after the second frame.  Jada Burke had a strong game for the Lions and it showed when she led a 3-on-2 attack and found Hannah Alt for the game-tying-goal with 16:57 to go in the third period.

Girard made a great defensive play to poke the puck free and found Sierra Burt in the open ice for a breakaway, but the Robert Morris goalie made a fantastic stop to keep the game tied at 2-2.  Jolene deBruyn made some key saves of her own as the game went to overtime, still with a 2-2 score.  The Lions and Colonials went scoreless in the extra period and ended in a 2-2 tie to open the two game series.
