Sierra Burt Scores Twice, Women's Hockey Wins 4-1

GAME OVERVIEW
The Lindenwood women's hockey team (1-2-0) defeated Union College (0-3-0) on Friday night in Schenectady, N.Y.  Sierra Burt led the way for the Lions as she posted two goals and one assist on the night.  Jolene deBruyn made 21 saves while allowing just one goal as the Lions faced five power plays on the night.
 
The Lions jumped on the board first after Taylor Girard found Cierra Paisley for the goal just 2:26 into the game.  Union tied the game a few minutes later as the Dutchwomen had just 10 seconds remaining in their first power play.  Lindenwood controlled the game for the most part and it paid off as Burt broke the tie with a goal at 11:42 of the first period.
 
Lillian Marchant added to the Lindenwood lead with a goal at the 12:46 mark of the second period.  The Lions continued to handle the puck with care and deBruyn compiled 11 saves through the first two periods as the Lions faced four penalty kills through the first two frames.
 
Burt scored her second goal of the game in the third period to put the Lions up 4-1 with 7:04 to go in the game.  Paisley registered her second point of the game as she had to lone assist.  The Lions earned their first win of the 2018-19 season on Friday.
