GAME OVERVIEW
The Lindenwood men's basketball team (3-3) captured a 78-74 neutral-site victory over LeMoyne-Owen on Friday evening from Jason Gym in Jefferson City, Mo. With the Lions leading by just two points in the closing seconds,
Chris King drove to the hoop for a crucial layup with eight seconds on the clock to seal the victory for Lindenwood.
Both teams exchanged buckets for the early portion of the first half, with neither team's lead exceeding a four-point margin. However, with 7:51 left in the opening frame, LeMoyne-Owen had built a 26-20 edge.
On its next possession, Lindenwood got a layup from
Diego Womack that sparked the team on a 26-11 run to close out the first half. The Lions entered halftime holding a nine-point lead at 46-37.
Lindenwood opened the second half on a 6-0 run with three straight layups, two from
Chandler Diekvoss and one from Womack, and quickly took a 15-point lead.
The Lions lead continued in double-digits for much of the second half, before LeMoyne-Owen rallied in the closing minutes, using a 15-3 run to bring Lindenwood's lead to just two points with 48 seconds on the clock.
King's layup in the final seconds extended the Lindenwood lead to four points, and was enough to hold off the Magicians.
