GAME OVERVIEW
The Lindenwood men's basketball team (1-1) was defeated 65-62 by No. 4 West Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon in Orange, Calif. Lindenwood was unable to hit on two three-point attempts in the closing seconds to tie the game.
Drew Moore had the best game of his Lindenwood career, registering his first double-double as a Lion. Moore led all scorers with 20 points and also led all rebounders with 15.
Following a
Chandler Diekvoss layup at the 14:57 mark of the first half, Lindenwood pushed its lead to 18-8, taking an early 10-point lead. The Lions continued to push past the fourth-ranked Buffs for much of the first half, taking a 15-point lead following a
Brad Newman layup with 7:43 remaining in the opening frame.
West Texas A&M trimmed the Lindenwood lead to as few as four points in the closing minutes of the half, before the Lions built the lead back up to seven points entering halftime.

Chris King three-pointer with 11:42 left in the second half pushed the Lion lead to 10 points.
Over the next 6:05, West Texas A&M embarked on a 16-0 run that turned a 10-point defect into a six-point lead, their first of the afternoon.
Following a pair of successful free throws by Moore, Lindenwood slashed the West Texas A&M lead to just one point with 30 seconds showing on the clock. The Buffs built their lead back to three points after hitting a pair of free throws at the 17 second mark. Lindenwood had two chances to tie the game in the closing seconds, but was unable to sink one of its three-point attempts.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Moore finished the afternoon 8-14 on field goals, and set new career-highs in points (20) and rebounds (15).
- Newman was Lindenwood's other scorer to reach double-digit points, finishing with 14 points.
- Diekvoss filled out the stat sheet nicely, chipping in with nine points, seven rebounds, four assists, and four steals.
- King finished the game with nine points, including two made three pointers.
