Roller hockey swept all three games played November 2-3 at Midwest Sport Hockey in Ballwin, Missouri. The Lions outlasted Bethel (Tenn.) 4-3 in a shootout on Friday, then stopped Michigan State 9-3 and St. Louis Community College – Meramec 14-1 on Saturday.
In the contest against the Wildcats, Lindenwood jumped to a three goal lead, but Bethel came back to tie the score in the third. Nick Dellamorte netted the first shot for the Lions unassisted at 8:34 in the first, and Anthony Erace added on just 37 seconds later off a pass from
Cody Page to make it 2-0. Dellamorte found himself alone again for another unassisted tally at 5:22 of the second to extend the advantage to three, but a Lindenwood penalty midway through the third gave Bethel some life and they capitalized with a power play goal at 7:06. The Wildcats hit the back of the net again a minute later and tied it with just 39 seconds remaining in regulation.
All four minutes of the sudden death overtime period went by without a goal, setting up a shootout.
Paul Town stopped all three of the initial Bethel shots, but the Lions weren't able to beat the Wildcats goalie either. Town stopped a fourth shot, setting up
Adam Swims, who buried his shot for the game-winner.
Dellamorte was named Star No. 2 for his two-goal effort as Lindenwood outshot Bethel 43-24 in regulation and overtime. Town stopped 21 of the 24 shots he faced during the game, then made another four saves in the shootout to earn the victory in goal.
The rest of the weekend proved much easier for the Lions as they jumped ahead of the Spartans 4-1 in the first period and never looked back. Dellamorte started the offense with a short-handed goal at 4:42 of the first and finished the period with his second. Page and Swims scored in between with help from Sam Koenig and
Steve Farina. Joseph Rosa made it 5-1 early in the second on a power play and Koenig lit the lamp as well before Michigan State made it 6-2 late. The two teams combined for four power play goals in the third, starting with Dellamorte at the 14-second mark as he finished his hat trick. After the Spartans netted their third of the game, Visico went back-to-back in just over a minute of play for the final margin.
Lindenwood outshot Michigan State 40-23 and
Jacob Robinson stopped 20 of the 23 shots he saw to earn the victory. Dellamorte was named Star No. 1 with his hat trick and an assist, Rosa earned Star No. 2 honors with a goal and two assists, and Visico was named Star No. 3 with two goals.
The final game of the weekend went the way of the Lions with seven players scoring and nine getting at least one point in the contest. Page and
Max Romanowicz each earned hat tricks, with Koenig, Visico, and Dellamorte each netting two. Erace and Joseph Fordyce added single goals as Lindenwood outshot the Archers 55-8. Robinson stopped seven shots in goal for the victory.
Dellamorte earned Star No. 1 honors with a pair of goals and four assists, Page was named Star No. 2 with three goals and two assists, and Romanowicz was named Star No. 3 with three goals and an assist.
