The Lindenwood men's and women's tennis teams each opened the spring portion of their schedule with commanding road victories at William Jewell on Friday afternoon. The Lindenwood men's squad cruised to an 8-1 victory, while the women's team prevailed by a 7-2 margin.
On the men's side, the Lions secured all six victories during singles competition, and took two of the three doubles matches.
Naoufal El Idrissi,
Hector Horcajada, Jonas Benbom,
Theo Butaeye, and
Antoine Barraud all secured straight-set victories for Lindenwood during singles play.
Guillaume Teste also posted a victory for the Lions, winning his singles match in three sets.
Lindenwood's two doubles victories came from the duos of Benbom and Gaspari at No. 2 and Barraud and
Tudor Ghenea at No. 3.
The women's team registered straight-set victories during the first five singles matches. Lindenwood's wins went to
Anna Barbasheva,
Dana Minakova,
Haya Hamed,
Savannah Martin, and
Alexis McCarthy.
Hamed and
Laura Castro Milan posted a victory at No. 2 doubles, while McCarthy and Martin won at No. 3 doubles.
Lindenwood's men's team improves to 3-1 with its victory, while the women's team boosted its record to 1-2.
Both teams will return to the courts on February 17th in matches against Oklahoma Baptist in Springfield, Mo.
