The No. 13 Lindenwood men's lacrosse team won its home opener on Friday afternoon at Hyland Arena with a 17-3 victory over Montevallo.
The Lions dominated the game, especially in the second half when they outscored the Falcons by an 11-1 margin. Lindenwood had a shots advantage of 58-17, and it also had 19 more groundballs in the game. Montevallo had 26 turnovers in the game, and it won just eight-of-24 faceoffs.
Lindenwood received hat tricks with three goals apiece from
Leonard Jones and
Colin Domek. Jones also had an assist and tied for the team-high with four points.
Robbie McCarthy also had four points with a goal and a team-high three assists.
Carter Collins and
Max Troha each scored twice, and
Sam Heaton had two assists.
Joe Shelly won 12-of-19 faceoffs and led the team with six groundballs.
Danny Kowalski had five groundballs.
Jake Moran led the team with four caused turnovers.
Lindenwood improves to 2-0 on the season. The Lions will be in action again next Tuesday with a 5 p.m. home game against Wheeling Jesuit.
